Gandhinagar, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant move for the education sector, Gujarat has appointed 8,169 new primary teachers, with more than 6,000 of them being women. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel presented appointment letters to the newly selected teachers during a ceremony held in Adalaj, near Gandhinagar.
Addressing the gathering, CM Patel emphasized the vital role these teachers will play in shaping the future of the country and realizing the dream of a “developed India.” He urged the educators to guide their students in a manner that fosters meaningful contributions to nation-building.
The chief minister noted that the inclusion of over 6,000 women among the newly appointed teachers reflects the growing participation of women in the education sector. He remarked, “Initiatives like ‘Kanya Kelavni Mahotsav’ and ‘Shala Praveshotsav,’ launched during Prime Minister Modi’s tenure as chief minister, have evolved into a significant movement, yielding positive results.”
Patel assured that the recruitment process was entirely transparent and based on merit. He expressed joy at seeing the happiness and pride of families whose members secured government jobs through hard work. Looking ahead, he mentioned that the education department plans to recruit approximately 10,000 more teachers in the near future.
Highlighting the longstanding respect for teachers in society, Patel stated that their influence remains significant, regardless of their students’ success in fields like medicine, engineering, or science. He encouraged the new teachers to act responsibly while using digital platforms and social media, as their behavior profoundly impacts children’s minds and personalities.
Education Minister Pradyuman Vaja announced that the state government has successfully completed the recruitment process for around 12,000 ‘Vidya Sahayaks’ using technology and transparent procedures. This recruitment includes approximately 11,000 positions for Gujarati medium classes 1 to 5 and around 987 for other mediums.
Referencing the National Education Policy, Vaja emphasized the importance of focusing on foundational literacy, numeracy, skill development, and experiential learning rather than rote memorization. He urged the newly appointed teachers to make classes engaging through activities, stories, experiments, and technology while maintaining regular communication with parents to ensure student attendance.
Additionally, State Minister of Education Rivaba Jadeja highlighted the crucial role teachers play not only in imparting knowledge but also in shaping children’s thoughts, personalities, and character. She stressed the equal importance of basic literacy, values, skills, and technology in education. Citing Rabindranath Tagore, she encouraged those wishing to serve the nation to work in the field of education.
