
Lucknow, April 5: A grand wrestling event, celebrating India’s rich wrestling tradition, took place in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Talented wrestlers from various districts participated, showcasing strength, discipline, and heritage.
Olympic medalist Yogeshwar Dutt, honored with the Padma Shri, Khel Ratna, and Arjuna awards, graced the event as the chief guest. His presence inspired both young and experienced wrestlers alike.
The event was filled with thrilling matches and remarkable community participation. Attractive prizes were awarded, including a motorcycle, 100 liters of traditional ‘Bilona Desi Ghee,’ and a cash prize of ₹100,000. This gathering highlighted the enduring popularity of India’s traditional wrestling style and its deep cultural roots.
Initiated to bring wrestling back to the mainstream, this initiative aimed to honor athletes who keep this centuries-old sport alive through their dedication and passion.
During the program, Yogeshwar Dutt strongly supported such initiatives, emphasizing the importance of India’s traditions. He noted that traditional nutritional practices, especially Bilona ghee made from native cow’s milk, are among the purest and most nutritious elements of India’s heritage.
