The Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain hosted a grand Bhasma Aarti, attracting numerous devotees eager to witness the sacred ritual.

Ujjain, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : The Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain was the site of a spectacular Bhasma Aarti on November 1, coinciding with the Kartik Krishna Paksha Saptami. A large number of devotees gathered to witness this divine event.
Early Sunday morning, the temple doors were opened with the sound of drums and trumpets, following the blessings of Lord Veerabhadra. After the elaborate decoration and the Bhasma Aarti, devotees were allowed to have darshan of Baba Mahakal.
The temple echoed with chants of “Jai Shri Mahakal,” as the atmosphere filled with the sounds of bells, conch shells, and mantras. As the doors opened, the ritual included a water abhishek with Panchamrit, made from milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, and fruit juices.
During the worship, the first bell was rung, and water was offered with the invocation “Hari Om.” Following the camphor Aarti, Baba Mahakal donned a crown. The ceremony culminated in the Bhasma Aarti, accompanied by traditional instruments and chants.
Baba Mahakal was adorned with a moon on his head and a garland of flowers, creating a mesmerizing sight that moved many devotees to tears. Long lines of worshippers had formed since the night before, eager to catch a glimpse of their beloved deity.
According to tradition, the Bhasma Aarti is offered to Baba Mahakal by the Mahanirvani Akhara. It is believed that after the Bhasma is presented, Baba Mahakal reveals his form to the devotees. Many pilgrims travel to Ujjain to partake in this extraordinary ritual, feeling blessed by the experience.
