Government to Host Coal and Lignite Gasification Roadshow in Hyderabad on June 11

Hyderabad, June 10: The central government is set to host a roadshow in Hyderabad on June 11 to attract investments in coal and lignite gasification projects. This follows a previous roadshow held in New Delhi. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Coal on Wednesday.

The ministry stated that the overwhelming response and active participation from the last event demonstrated growing confidence among industry stakeholders in India’s coal gasification ecosystem and highlighted emerging opportunities in this strategic sector.

Furthermore, this roadshow will serve as a crucial platform for discussions on policy support, technological innovations, investment opportunities, and project implementation strategies. It aims to bring together policymakers, entrepreneurs, technology providers, and investors to collaboratively explore ways to accelerate the development of coal and lignite gasification projects across the country.

The event is expected to strengthen stakeholder engagement, facilitate strategic partnerships, and contribute to building a robust ecosystem for coal gasification in India. Through these initiatives, the Ministry of Coal is committed to promoting innovation, encouraging industry participation, and enhancing energy security, sustainable resource use, and industrial development in line with the government’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

According to the ministry, the Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, will be the chief guest at the Hyderabad roadshow, while the Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, will be a special guest.

Coal gasification is a revolutionary technology that converts coal into synthesis gas (syngas). This syngas can be used to produce value-added products such as methanol, ammonium nitrate, synthetic natural gas, and various industrial chemicals. Recognizing its strategic importance, the Indian government has implemented several policy initiatives and incentive measures to promote coal gasification, aiming to enhance energy security, reduce import dependency, and diversify the use of domestic coal resources.
