New Delhi, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran stated on October 5 that despite global uncertainties, India’s economy is in a strong and stable condition. Speaking at the Indian Foundation for Quality Management Symposium 2026, he attributed this resilience to robust domestic demand, service exports, and a favorable policy environment.
Chandrasekaran emphasized that India has consistently outperformed expectations in recent years and is on a path of strong growth. “The Indian economy is performing very well,” he remarked, noting various indicators that suggest the country is in a stable and robust position.
He highlighted strong demand in sectors such as automobile sales, credit growth, electricity, and cement as signs of economic strength. Additionally, he pointed to a current account deficit consistently below 1% of GDP, service exports nearing 11% of GDP, a healthy foreign exchange reserve, and improved non-performing assets (NPAs) in banks as key indicators supporting a positive economic outlook.
To achieve the vision of ‘Developed India 2047’, he stressed the need for world-class infrastructure, strong institutions, and intellectual property to foster inclusive and sustainable development. He noted that energy security, advanced manufacturing jobs, and investment in human capital are crucial for maintaining long-term economic growth.
Chandrasekaran also called for a transformation in India’s manufacturing sector, urging greater focus on quality, innovation, productivity, and competitiveness. He suggested that India could learn from countries like Germany, which have strengthened their competitive edge through engineering standards, precision, and a robust ecosystem for small and medium enterprises.
He concluded that such changes are essential not only for large companies but also for developing strong leadership within the medium-sized business ecosystem. This would help cultivate experts capable of contributing to global manufacturing standards and practices.
