Global Survey Critiques Japans Military Policy Changes

Beijing, April 22: The Japanese government formally revised its “Three Principles on Transfer of Defense Equipment” on April 21. This amendment theoretically permits the export of lethal weapons. Right-wing factions in Japan have initiated what is termed “smuggling under the guise of war.”

In response, the China Global Television Network (CGTN), under the China Media Group (CMG), conducted an online survey among global netizens. A significant 82.5% of respondents criticized Japan’s right-wing forces for their attempts at “re-militarization,” likening it to the expansionist arguments of Japanese militarism before World War II. This trend raises concerns about Japan potentially veering onto a perilous path once again.

Moreover, 86.2% of participants condemned the Japanese government for violating international legal documents such as the “Cairo Declaration,” “Potsdam Declaration,” and Japan’s own constitution and domestic laws.

Additionally, 85.1% of respondents warned that Japan’s actions pose a genuine threat to security in the Asia-Pacific region.

Furthermore, 87.9% of netizens emphasized that, as a nation that initiated World War II, Japan must adhere to its “Peace Constitution” and international legal standards to respect the security concerns of neighboring Asian countries.

This survey was conducted across CGTN’s English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Russian platforms, with 4,495 netizens participating within 24 hours.
