Beijing, March 5: After World War II, the world made significant strides towards civility, with few exceptions. However, as we enter the 21st century, it appears that humanity is once again veering towards a state of medieval barbarism. This sentiment has gained traction globally following the U.S. and Israel’s attacks on Iran on February 28. The death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini, along with several military officials, has sent shockwaves around the world. Vulnerable nations are now increasingly anxious, fearing that if they adopt policies against the U.S., they may face similar military actions.
The U.S. has cited several reasons for its attack on Iran, primarily aimed at halting Iran’s nuclear program, dismantling its missile capabilities, and changing the current regime. The U.S. argues that Iran was on the brink of developing nuclear weapons, posing an “unacceptable security threat” to the world and its regional allies. Former President Trump has stated that Iran rejected every opportunity to abandon its nuclear ambitions.
In the aftermath of the attack, there are concerns that terrorist incidents may rise, heightening global anxieties. The U.S. claims to be a democratic nation, asserting its mission to establish democracy worldwide. However, in areas where it intervenes, democracy often remains elusive. Actions taken during Trump’s administration have notably disrupted the global order.
