Gas Leak Explosion in Varanasi Claims Two Lives

Varanasi, March 24: A tragic gas leak incident occurred in the Manduwadi area of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday, resulting in the explosion of a house. This unfortunate event led to the deaths of two individuals, while several others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

According to Neetu, the ADC of the Varuna zone, preliminary investigations indicate that the explosion was triggered by a gas leak from a cylinder. At the time of the incident, cooking was taking place in the house, and the gas leak ignited a fire, culminating in a sudden explosion that caused the entire structure to collapse.

Emergency services, including police, fire brigade, and forensic teams, quickly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations. A gas cylinder was found at the site, with the regulator discovered broken. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact causes of the incident, and surveillance in the area has been heightened as a precaution.

Panic ensued near the Lahartara Bridge in the Manduwadi area when a powerful explosion from the gas leak caused a single-story house to suddenly collapse. The blast was so intense that it caused cracks in nearby buildings, shaking the entire locality. All injured individuals were promptly admitted to local hospitals for treatment.

Local residents reported that upon hearing the explosion, they rushed outside only to find the house had been reduced to rubble. In a swift response, police and community members collaborated on a rescue operation to extricate those trapped under the debris.
