New Delhi, May 21: Major government oil companies, including HPCL, IOCL, and BPCL, have dismissed rumors regarding fuel shortages. They assured the public that the supply of petrol, diesel, and LPG across the country is sufficient. The companies urged citizens to rely only on official sources for information.
On the social media platform ‘X’, Indian Oil Corporation (IndianOil), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) confirmed that their fuel distribution networks are operating normally, with adequate stock and regular replenishment.
HPCL clarified that despite rumors of fuel and LPG shortages circulating on social media, supply remains stable in parts of Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Uttarakhand. The company stated that all retail outlets in Rajasthan, including those in Jaipur, are functioning normally, with a continuous supply of fuel and sufficient reserves.
According to HPCL, petrol supply in Rajasthan increased by 19% from May 1 to May 20 compared to historical sales, while diesel supply rose by 24.5% during the same period.
The company also refuted reports of fuel shortages in Uttarakhand’s Augustmuni and Guptkashi areas, asserting that nearby retail outlets currently have adequate stock and no restrictions on fuel sales.
Additionally, HPCL reported that LPG supply remains stable across Karnataka, supported by actions against black marketing and irregularities. The Karnataka government has seized 1,874 LPG cylinders and filed cases against irregular activities as of May 19, 2026.
Similarly, IndianOil stated that its retail outlets nationwide have sufficient petrol and diesel stock to ensure uninterrupted availability for consumers. In a post on X, the company emphasized, “IndianOil’s network ensures adequate supply of petrol and diesel across the country. Drive responsibly, refuel calmly, and trust only verified information.”
Meanwhile, BPCL confirmed that fuel availability at its retail outlets in Kaladhungi, Nainital district, Uttarakhand, is normal and sufficient to meet demand. The company noted that the fuel stock at these outlets is adequate for approximately four days of regular sales.
The oil and diesel companies have requested customers not to panic-buy and to rely solely on official communication channels for verified information regarding fuel supply.
