New Delhi, March 7: According to government sources, there will be no increase in petrol and diesel prices. Reports indicate that India’s energy reserves are steadily improving, leading to a more stable situation compared to previous times.
The enhancement in energy reserves has given the government greater confidence in managing fuel supply. India has taken steps to diversify its crude oil imports, reducing reliance on sensitive maritime routes.
Previously, about 60% of India’s total crude oil imports came from sources outside the Hormuz Strait. This figure has now risen to approximately 70%. The first oil shipment from the Hormuz Strait has already departed, signaling a gradual return to normalcy in oil supply.
This clarification from the government comes at a time when opposition parties have alleged that fuel prices might rise. In response, government sources stated that these claims are entirely baseless. They clarified that the prior assurance was solely regarding petrol and diesel prices, not LPG.
Sources reiterated that there will be no increase in petrol and diesel prices. They emphasized, “This statement pertains only to petrol and diesel. It does not relate to LPG. We assure once again that there will be no increase in petrol and diesel prices.”
Regarding the issue of cooking gas, sources mentioned that the government is currently prioritizing LPG production to ensure adequate supply. They also noted that the price of LPG cylinders has increased by approximately 110 rupees over the past 12 years.
According to sources, the government is closely monitoring the energy sector and is taking necessary steps to maintain stability in fuel supply and prices.
