Flooding Disrupts Train Services on Patna-Gaya Route in Bihar

Patna, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Continuous rainfall in Bihar has caused significant disruptions to train services, particularly on the Patna-Gaya route. Rising water levels between the Punpun and Parsa Bazar regions have prompted the railway authorities to cancel several trains for safety reasons.

The East Central Railway announced that due to increased water levels at bridge number 21 on the down line between Punpun and Parsa Bazar, train operations were suspended as of 10 PM on September 4. This suspension will remain in effect until further notice.

On Monday, ten MEMU trains were canceled, including the 63242 and 63244 services from Gaya to Patna, as well as the 63245 and 63247 services from Patna to Gaya. Other affected trains include 63248, 63250, 63251, 63253, 63256, and 63274, which runs from Patna to Rajgir.

To accommodate the disruption, the rake of the 63248 Gaya-Patna MEMU will be utilized at Manpur Point for the operation of the 63339 MEMU service from Rajgir. Additionally, the 18625 Hatia-Purnia Court Express will be rerouted via Bakhtiyarpur Link, Rajgir, Tilaiya Junction, Paimar, and Bandhua to travel along the Patna-Gaya-Koderma route. Conversely, the 18626 Purnia Court-Hatia Express will follow the same alternate path in reverse.

The 13329 Dhanbad-Patna and 13330 Patna-Dhanbad Express trains will also operate on alternative routes instead of their scheduled paths. Furthermore, the 15137 Rajgir-Banaras Express and the 15138 Banaras-Rajgir Express will be rerouted through Patna, Ara, Buxar, and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction.

Other services, including the 63389 Patna-Nawada, 63390 Nawada-Patna, 63391 IslamPur-Patna, and 63392 Patna-IslamPur MEMUs, will also see changes in their routes, operating via Fatuha and Daniyawan Junctions.

Passengers are advised to check the operational status of their trains and any route changes before traveling. Regular train operations on the affected rail section will resume only after water levels return to normal and approval is granted by the engineering department.
