Fair Voting in West Bengal: Dilip Ghosh Praises Record Turnout

Kolkata, April 24: In the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh commented on the voting process following a record turnout.

Ghosh stated that this election was markedly different from previous ones. He noted that in the past, voters faced intimidation, and at times, police prevented people from casting their votes. However, he observed that this election did not exhibit such an atmosphere.

“This time, all voters participated without fear,” he remarked. Ghosh highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance of ‘fear out, trust in, vote for BJP’ was visibly realized on the ground.

According to Ghosh, the voting in this phase signifies a significant shift in West Bengal’s political landscape. He expressed gratitude for the Election Commission’s role in facilitating this change.

Weather posed a considerable challenge during the voting process. Ghosh reported that temperatures ranged from 40 to 42 degrees Celsius, exacerbated by humidity, making conditions difficult for voters, election officials, and security personnel.

Despite these challenges, he praised the public for fulfilling their civic duty and participating in large numbers. On Thursday, voting was completed for 152 seats in the first phase. The second phase will cover 142 seats, scheduled for April 29, with vote counting and results to be announced on May 4.
