A tragic explosion at a chemical factory in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, resulted in the deaths of four workers during pipe fitting work.

Gandhinagar, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : Four workers lost their lives in a devastating explosion at a chemical factory in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on October 15. The incident occurred during pipe fitting work near a boiler at Kovika Dyes and Intermediates, located in the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) area of Chhatral Phase-4.
Local police reported that preliminary investigations suggest a pipe may have burst due to pressure, leading to the explosion. However, the exact cause remains undetermined at this time.
The deceased have been identified as Vinodkumar Nandalal Singh (42), Tera Dehari (18), and Sikandar Lakhan Dehari (40), all hailing from Jharkhand. A fourth worker, Lakshman Meena, was from Udaipur, Rajasthan.
A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has arrived at the site to investigate the circumstances surrounding the explosion and gather evidence. Authorities aim to determine the cause of the blast and whether any safety violations contributed to the tragedy.
District Superintendent of Police Ravi Teja Vasamsetty stated that forensic experts will collect samples and conduct tests to ascertain if flammable materials played a role in the incident or if negligence was a factor in the fatalities.
Additionally, a team from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) will visit the factory as part of the investigation. Forensic analysis is expected to help establish the sequence of events leading to the explosion and identify potential contributing factors.
While initial suspicions point to a pressure-related pipe burst, this theory has yet to be confirmed through the investigation. Meanwhile, autopsies for the deceased workers are underway, and police are in the process of filing an accidental death report.
Investigations are ongoing, with forensic specialists and other officials expected to examine the site and related evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the workers’ deaths.
