Exploring Justice and Revenge: Sayantani Ghosh on Her Role in Jagaddhatri
Sayantani Ghosh discusses her character in Jagaddhatri and the thin line between justice and revenge in society.

Mumbai, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Sayantani Ghosh, a prominent actress, plays the powerful and fearless Maya Deshmukh in the popular television series ‘Jagaddhatri.’ In a recent interview, she shared her thoughts on the delicate balance between justice and revenge.
Ghosh believes that when people feel they are denied justice, their emotions can sometimes lead them toward seeking revenge. She stated, “Justice and revenge are two sides of the same coin in many ways, but the line between them is very thin.” She elaborated that, from a legal perspective, a person may receive punishment, and justice may be served, yet the victim might still feel unsatisfied with the outcome. This complexity often complicates the issue.
The actress noted that it can be challenging to determine where justice ends and revenge begins. “Personally, I believe in balancing rules with your heart and mind. Not every rule can be debated, but some structure and discipline are necessary for society. However, some societal expectations may not always align with what is right for an individual,” she explained.
Ghosh encouraged people to question certain social norms and to determine what is best for themselves rather than blindly adhering to every rule. However, she also cautioned against rebellion for the sake of rebellion, emphasizing that it should not be the solution.
Reflecting on her character, Ghosh mentioned, “I feel there are aspects of my personality in Maya, but she also influences me in different ways. When you play a character for a long time, the lines between the real person and the role can blur. I believe some colors of Sayantani are in Maya, and in some ways, Maya inspires me.” As an actor, she noted that each role leaves a mark, compelling one to view situations from new perspectives and explore viewpoints previously unconsidered.
