New Delhi: Embraer and Adani Defence and Aerospace have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop an integrated regional transport aircraft ecosystem in India. This collaboration aims to enhance aircraft manufacturing, supply chain, aftermarket services, and pilot training within the country.
Under this partnership, the two companies plan to establish an assembly line that will gradually increase localisation, supporting India’s self-reliance initiative and advancing the country’s Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) programme in line with the regional connectivity vision.
Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, stated, “India is a key market for Embraer, and this partnership combines our aerospace expertise with Adani’s strong industrial capabilities and commitment to indigenous development.” He added, “Together, we will evaluate and implement the most viable, advanced, and efficient solutions to support India’s RTA ambitions.”
Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Defence and Aerospace, highlighted the importance of regional aviation for economic growth. He said, “Initiatives like UDAN are transforming air connectivity in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, making a domestic regional aviation ecosystem essential.”
Embraer has a longstanding presence in India, with nearly 50 aircraft across 11 models operating in commercial, defence, and business aviation sectors. The proposed system is designed to meet domestic demand while generating significant direct and indirect employment in engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and support services.
Adani Defence and Aerospace is India’s largest integrated private defence and aerospace company. It is actively building capabilities across various sectors and promoting indigenous aerospace and UAV manufacturing aligned with national security priorities and global requirements.
