New Delhi, April 19: Eight of the top ten companies in India experienced a remarkable increase in market capitalization, rising by ₹1.87 lakh crore last week. This surge is attributed to the positive momentum in the stock market following peace talks between Iran and the United States.
During the holiday week, the Sensex climbed by 943.29 points, or 1.22%, closing at 78,493.54, while the Nifty rose by 302.95 points, or 1.26%, to finish at 24,353.55.
The stock market was closed on April 14 in observance of Ambedkar Jayanti.
From April 13 to 17, the market capitalization of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) increased by ₹27,608.62 crore, reaching ₹5,32,691.31 crore.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) saw its market cap rise by ₹20,731.64 crore, totaling ₹9,34,063.56 crore, while Reliance Industries’ market capitalization grew by ₹20,231.05 crore, now standing at ₹18,47,317.84 crore.
Larsen & Toubro also witnessed a significant jump, with its market cap increasing by ₹18,577.91 crore to reach ₹5,63,314.50 crore.
ICICI Bank’s market capitalization rose by ₹18,266.82 crore, bringing it to ₹9,65,008.67 crore. The State Bank of India (SBI) saw an increase of ₹12,599.79 crore, reaching ₹9,97,229.77 crore.
Infosys’ market cap grew by ₹10,650.1 crore, totaling ₹5,34,774.50 crore.
Conversely, HDFC Bank and Bajaj Finance experienced declines in their market capitalizations. HDFC Bank’s market cap fell by ₹16,163.04 crore to ₹12,31,315.53 crore, while Bajaj Finance’s market cap decreased by ₹9,769.3 crore, now at ₹5,65,437.17 crore.
This week, Reliance Industries successfully maintained its position as India’s most valuable company, followed by HDFC Bank and Bharti Airtel.
Additionally, SBI, ICICI Bank, TCS, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, Infosys, and LIC are among the other companies listed in the top ten most valuable firms.
