Jammu, March 21: This year, Eid is being celebrated with great simplicity, according to Ashaq Hussain Khan, president of the Shia Federation in Jammu. He expressed sorrow over the passing of their leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, stating that their eyes are filled with tears and their hearts are heavy, leading to a more subdued celebration.
Khan noted that members of the Hindu and Sikh communities are standing in solidarity with them during this time. He emphasized that prayers for peace will be offered on this occasion.
Imam Syed Jawar Hussain Jafari of the Jamia Mosque in Bathindi, Jammu, mentioned that their esteemed religious scholar, Syed Mujtaba Khamenei, is fighting against Islamophobic forces like Israel and the United States. The news of Ayatollah Khamenei’s death has contributed to the subdued nature of this year’s Eid celebrations.
Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahli, president of the Islamic Center of India (Idgah), stated that prayers were held at 10 AM, focusing on the nation’s progress and world peace. AIMIM national spokesperson Waris Pathan extended heartfelt Eid wishes to all citizens.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, a large gathering took place at Jama Masjid in Delhi, where many came together to offer prayers. After the prayers, attendees greeted each other warmly, exchanging Eid congratulations.
A resident of Delhi shared that after a month of fasting, the day of Eid is highly anticipated. It is seen as a special reward from Allah, marking a day of joy following a month of patience, worship, and devotion. This is why people celebrate Eid with great love and respect.
