Dry Weather to Prevail Across Himachal This Week; Keylong Remains Coldest

Shimla, October 15 (Daily Kiran): Himachal Pradesh is likely to experience dry weather conditions throughout the week, with no chances of rain or snowfall until October 21. According to the Meteorological Department, the skies will remain clear even during the Diwali festival, allowing people to enjoy pleasant and festive weather.

In the past 24 hours, there has been no major change in temperature across most parts of the state, though a slight rise was observed in the minimum temperature. Keylong recorded a low of 1.3°C, making it the coldest location in the state, while Una witnessed the highest temperature at 32.2°C, about 2–4 degrees above normal, giving the plains a mild warm feel during the day.

Cold conditions continue in tribal and higher-altitude regions, where minimum temperatures are nearing the freezing point. Popular hill destinations such as Shimla, Manali, Dalhousie, and Dharamshala are enjoying clear days and cool mornings and evenings — ideal for both residents and tourists.

In the past 24 hours, only Sarahan recorded light rainfall of 1.5 mm, while the rest of the state remained dry. Dense fog was reported in Sundernagar early in the morning, reducing visibility to about 100 meters. The weather department has confirmed that there is no forecast of strong winds or thunderstorms anywhere in the state.

On Wednesday, the state’s average minimum temperature was 0.6°C above normal. Minimum temperatures were recorded as follows: Shimla 11.4°C, Sundernagar 15.5°C, Bhuntar 11.6°C, Kalpa 5.5°C, Dharamshala 11.4°C, Una 13.8°C, Manali 7.9°C, Kukumseri 1.7°C, Kufri 11.3°C, and Narkanda 9.2°C.

Meteorological Centre Shimla scientist Sandeep Sharma said the dry spell is expected to continue till October 21, with no rain or snowfall likely. He added that people can look forward to celebrating Diwali under clear skies and warm sunshine.
