Dry Weather to Continue in Himachal Till October 18; Keylong Records -2.2°C

Shimla, October 12 (DailyKiran)Himachal Pradesh experienced a bright and sunny Sunday, with pleasant weather prevailing across popular hill stations such as Shimla, Kufri, Manali, and Dharamshala. However, the tribal regions of the state are witnessing extreme cold, as temperatures have dipped below freezing point in several areas.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, the minimum temperature in Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti, was recorded at -2.2°C, making it the coldest location in the state. Other tribal regions also reported chilly conditions — Kukumseri (2.1°C), Reckong Peo (7.7°C), Bharmaur (9.7°C), and Siyobag (8°C).

No Rain Predicted Till October 18

The weather department has ruled out any chances of rain in Himachal Pradesh for the next week. The forecast indicates clear skies and bright sunshine till October 18, with day temperatures expected to rise slightly, while night temperatures will remain unchanged.

As per officials, the average minimum temperature across the state on Sunday was 1.8°C below normal, showing a continuing downward trend in night-time temperatures.

Temperature Details Across Regions

Several plains and mid-hill areas recorded a slight dip in minimum temperatures over the last 24 hours:

  • Kangra: 13.5°C

  • Mandi: 15.1°C

  • Hamirpur: 14.3°C

  • Bilaspur: 15.7°C

Hill destinations recorded the following lows: Manali (6.1°C), Kufri (10.2°C), and Shimla (12.5°C). Other stations included Sundernagar (13.8°C), Bhuntar (10°C), Kalpa (4.2°C), Una (14.4°C), Nahan (15.5°C), Palampur (10°C), and Solan and Jubbarhatti (12.5°C).

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the combination of clear skies, dry air, and cold winds from the north is responsible for the current dip in minimum temperatures across the state.
