Drone Attack in Sohar, Oman Claims Lives of Two Indians, Injures Ten Others

New Delhi, March 14: A drone attack in Sohar, Oman, on Friday resulted in the tragic deaths of two Indian nationals, with a total of 11 individuals injured, including ten Indians.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed deep sorrow over the incident, which occurred amidst ongoing conflicts in West Asia. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for the swift recovery of the injured.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Jaiswal stated, “Today, we lost two Indian citizens in an attack in Sohar, Oman, during the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Several other Indian nationals have also been injured. We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and hope for the quick recovery of the injured.”

Jaiswal further mentioned that the Indian mission in Oman is in contact with local authorities and the employer company, providing all possible assistance.

Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, the Strait of Hormuz remains a significant concern. On the same day, Iran’s ambassador to India, Mohammad Fatehali, indicated that Indian vessels may soon be granted safe passage through the Strait. However, attacks in Gulf countries continue unabated.

The drone attack in Sohar has raised alarms, with two Indian lives lost and ten others injured.

Ambassador Fatehali emphasized the shared interests between India and Iran, stating, “India is our friendly nation. You will see this within two to three hours. We believe that Iran and India have common interests in the region.”

He also noted that the Indian government has provided assistance to Iran in various sectors in the current post-war scenario.
