A drone malfunction during a show at Wankhede Stadium caused injuries to a passenger at Churchgate Station in Mumbai.

Mumbai, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : A drone show at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai took a dangerous turn on October 28, when two drones lost control and crashed onto Platform 3 of Churchgate Railway Station. The incident occurred around 8:10 PM, injuring a passenger identified as Hemant Prakash Mahotsavkar, 37.
Witnesses reported that the drones struck Mahotsavkar on the forehead and head, resulting in visible injuries and bleeding. Emergency responders, including ASI Shankarlal Meena and Head Constable Gaurav Parmar, quickly arrived at the scene to assist.
Initially, Mahotsavkar expressed a desire to return home after receiving first aid from the 108 ambulance team. However, about 15 minutes later, he opted for further medical treatment. Consequently, he was transported to GT Hospital under the supervision of the Government Railway Police (GRP) at 9:11 PM.
The GRP seized both drones for investigation. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the drones were part of the show at Wankhede Stadium but had malfunctioned, leading them to crash onto the station’s premises. Police are currently investigating the cause of the drones’ loss of control and whether any safety protocols were breached.
Mahotsavkar was found injured on Platform 3, where he received prompt medical attention. Initially satisfied with the care he received, he later recognized the need for more extensive treatment, prompting his transfer to the hospital.
The investigation continues as authorities seek to ensure passenger safety in the future.
