Malda, April 19: BJP MP Khagen Murmu has asserted that the people of West Bengal are determined to establish a double engine government in the upcoming assembly elections. He claims that under BJP governance, the pace of development will double.
In a conversation in Malda, Murmu highlighted the alarming rate of crimes against women in the state. He stated that the citizens have resolved to bring the BJP to power. “With a double engine government, there will be double the work, leading to development in Bengal, job opportunities for youth, and enhanced safety for women,” he said. He accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of disrespecting tribal women and mentioned that he himself faced attacks, promising that the tribal community would respond during the elections.
Commenting on the failure of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha, Murmu expressed confidence that women would retaliate in the upcoming assembly elections. He claimed that neither the TMC nor Congress would receive support from women voters.
Murmu targeted Mamata Banerjee, asserting that her support base has diminished. The first phase of voting is scheduled for April 23, followed by the second phase on April 29. He predicted that by the time results are announced on May 4, whatever remnants of her presence will be eradicated. He accused Banerjee of plundering Bengal and stated that the people are ready to respond.
BJP candidate Abhishek Singhania remarked that the residents of Ratua have decided to establish a BJP government in Bengal. He criticized the current TMC government, stating that the local MLA does not prioritize the public’s interests and has failed to deliver on development promises. He pointed out that despite repeated assurances regarding river erosion, no concrete actions have been taken. The public has resolved to bring in a government that genuinely advocates for their interests.
