Mumbai, March 9: DJI is poised to make a significant comeback in the FPV drone market, with early leaks indicating an innovative approach for its upcoming model. The anticipated DJI Avata 360 aims to make 360-degree aerial photography more accessible than ever before.
Details regarding the rumored drone, expected to be named the DJI Avata 360, have emerged from reliable sources, including DJI analyst Jasper Ellens. Reports suggest that the drone-only version could retail for approximately $499, making it a more affordable option compared to the current Avata 2, which typically sells for around $600. This pricing strategy positions the Avata 360 as a competitive entry in the expanding 360 FPV category, where rivals like the Insta360 Antigravity A1 are priced significantly higher.
Ellens has also confirmed the authenticity of leaked promotional images and packaging circulating online. These visuals showcase several practical features of the drone. Notably, the Avata 360 is expected to support replaceable lenses, with a two-pack priced at about $50 or €50. The lenses are designed with a simple screw-in mechanism, facilitating quick replacements after minor damages or scratches.
Battery pricing appears to be more consumer-friendly as well. Spare Intelligent Flight Batteries are rumored to cost around $70 or €70, each boasting a capacity of 38.6 Wh. This is an upgrade from the 31.8 Wh battery found in the Avata 2, potentially allowing for longer flight sessions.
The design of the drone, as indicated by leaked images, suggests a compact body equipped with cinewhoop-style propeller guards, akin to previous Avata models. A key enhancement is the inclusion of 360-degree imaging capabilities, likely achieved through a dual-camera setup.
DJI has begun teasing the new product on social media, alluding to “an all-new dimension of aerial creativity.” According to Ellens, another teaser is anticipated on March 12, with additional promotional content expected to follow soon.
