Devotees Flock to Baba Mahakal Temple for Special Monday Darshan

Ujjain, April 20: The world-renowned Baba Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain is witnessing a massive influx of devotees today. On this Monday, the crowds are larger than usual as worshippers line up early to seek blessings from Baba Mahakal.

During the morning’s Bhasma Aarti, devotees experienced the divine presence of both the formless and the manifested forms of Baba, filling the temple complex with chants of “Har-Har Mahadev.”

Before the Bhasma Aarti, the temple doors were opened after receiving permission from Veerabhadra. The sacred water known as Hariom Jal, sourced from the Kotitirth Kund within the temple premises, was offered to Baba. Following this, an abhishekam was performed with Panchamrit, and Baba was adorned with bhang and dry fruits. A tripur tilak was applied to Baba’s forehead, and after the ceremonial draping of garments, the Bhasma Aarti concluded.

Due to the significance of Monday, a large number of devotees gathered at Baba Mahakal’s court to receive his blessings during the Bhasma Aarti. It is noteworthy that after the Bhasma Aarti each day, Baba is adorned in a divine manner, attracting visitors from across the nation and abroad. On Akshaya Tritiya, Baba was adorned alongside Sheshnag.

The Bhasma Aarti is considered the most special ritual at Mahakal Temple. In this ceremony, Baba reveals himself in both formless and manifested forms. The formless aspect of Baba transcends birth and death, while the manifested form pertains to worldly existence. These two aspects of Baba illustrate different facets of the universe.

Due to the summer season, changes have been made to the rules for the Bhasma Aarti. Now, devotees can book their slots online a day in advance. Previously, they had to purchase tickets at the temple counter, but now they can secure their tickets with a nominal fee a day ahead.
