Deputy CM Vijay Sharma Criticizes Rahul Gandhi Over EVM Allegations

Chhattisgarhs Deputy CM Vijay Sharma criticizes Rahul Gandhi for questioning EVMs, highlighting the Congress partys inconsistent stance on election results.

Raipur, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma has taken aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his recent comments questioning the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the Election Commission. Sharma accused Gandhi of hypocrisy, stating that the Congress party only raises concerns about the electoral system when they lose.

In a recent session in the Lok Sabha, Sharma remarked, “It’s understandable that where they win, they quickly don new clothes and take an oath under the same system. However, where they lose, they claim the EVMs malfunctioned or that there was tampering by the Election Commission or their workers. They seem to have lost the habit of self-reflection.”

Sharma also addressed the challenges of public transport in remote areas of Chhattisgarh, noting that bus operators often struggle to make a profit. To improve accessibility, the Chief Minister has launched a bus service initiative aimed at ensuring reliable transportation reaches even the most isolated villages. This program has shown positive results, with buses now serving areas that previously had no access to public transport.

Furthermore, the Deputy CM highlighted ongoing efforts to assist individuals affected by IED blasts in the Bastar region. He announced that free medical camps would be held on October 15, 16, and 17 in Jagdalpur for those requiring assistive devices such as calipers, hearing aids, or prosthetics. This initiative, part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Mahabhiyan’, aims to support individuals with disabilities caused by violence in the area.

Sharma reported that over 3,000 people have already registered for the first camp, which will also serve residents from the districts of Bijapur, Sukma, and Dantewada. He emphasized the need to address the suffering of those impacted by Naxal violence, stating that the initiative seeks to provide relief and support to affected individuals.

In addition, he noted that planning for a second phase of registration and community meetings is underway, aiming to extend assistance to even more individuals in need.
