Jamshedpur, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Dr. Ajay Kumar, a Congress leader and former Member of Parliament, has lodged a complaint against Dr. Seema Khanna, the Director General of Information Technology at the Election Commission, at the Golmuri police station in Jamshedpur. He alleges that a significant number of names have been removed from the voter list amid concerns about the centralization of electoral data.
In a post on social media, Dr. Kumar raised questions about the management of electoral data and the legal powers of local officials involved in voter registration. He claims that the roles and authorities of these local election registration officers are being undermined.
Dr. Kumar stated that the electoral and voter registration data is being collected and controlled at a central level. He alleges that this process has led to the removal of millions of legitimate voters from the voter lists. Additionally, he has called for an investigation into the involvement of the private company TCS in the electoral data management system. However, an independent verification of how many names have been removed from the voter list, and whether any irregularities occurred in this process, has not yet been established.
The allegations regarding TCS’s involvement also lack independent confirmation. The situation will become clearer following a police investigation into these matters. Dr. Kumar emphasized the importance of the legal role played by officials in preparing and amending the voter list at the constituency level.
He expressed concern that the wrongful removal of a qualified citizen’s name from the voter list could infringe upon their right to vote. Consequently, he insists that the entire process of preparing and amending the voter list must be transparent and accountable. In his complaint, he has requested an investigation into the management of electoral data, the role of local election registration officials, the alleged changes to the voter list, and the related technical arrangements.
Dr. Kumar urged the police to take the matter seriously and take necessary actions. He affirmed his commitment to continue advocating for voter rights and the integrity of the electoral process.
