Garhwa, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : In Garhwa, Jharkhand, a dengue outbreak has raised alarms after one local businessman succumbed to the disease. Health officials reported that another patient has recovered and returned home. Following these developments, the health department has activated its alert system and established a 10-bed isolation ward at the district hospital.
Over the past ten days, several individuals in Garhwa have shown symptoms consistent with dengue, with two confirmed cases. The deceased businessman did not seek treatment at a government facility and instead went directly to a private hospital in Daltonganj, now officially known as Medininagar. Health authorities have confirmed that his death was indeed due to dengue.
In a positive turn, another patient exhibiting dengue symptoms has been treated and discharged. The health department is on high alert to prevent further spread of the disease in the region.
Dr. John F. Kennedy, the civil surgeon of Garhwa, expressed his sorrow over the loss of life due to dengue. He noted that only a couple of tests conducted in the district returned positive for the virus.
Dr. Kennedy urged residents to take precautions, especially during this season, by ensuring that no stagnant water accumulates around their homes and by maintaining cleanliness. He reassured the public that the health department is prepared to handle the situation effectively.
He emphasized the importance of seeking medical attention at the district hospital if dengue symptoms arise, stating that timely treatment is crucial for managing the disease. The health department has also advised individuals to get tested immediately if they experience fever or body aches and to take measures to eliminate mosquito breeding sites nearby.
