Demands for Investigation into Anant Singhs Controversial Statement on Nine Murders

Jitan Ram Manjhi calls for an investigation into Anant Singhs claim of nine murders linked to Nitish Kumars support.

Patna, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : Jitan Ram Manjhi, the Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and a key figure in the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), has called for an investigation into a controversial statement made by Mokama MLA Anant Singh. On Saturday, Manjhi criticized Singh’s assertion regarding “nine murders” and demanded appropriate action.

Manjhi stated that if Anant Singh claims to have committed murders to assist Nitish Kumar, then he has acted wrongly. He emphasized that if Singh genuinely wanted to help, he should have done so through positive actions. Manjhi insisted on a thorough investigation of Singh’s remarks and urged that proper consequences be enforced.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Jha, the National Executive President of the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)], acknowledged both Singh’s original statement and his subsequent clarification. Jha mentioned that the party’s Bihar unit is closely monitoring the developments surrounding the incident.

As of now, JD(U) has not announced any disciplinary actions against Anant Singh. The controversy erupted following Singh’s comments during an interview with a major media agency, where he spoke about sacrifices made in support of Nitish Kumar. His remarks were interpreted as suggesting that he had plotted nine murders to benefit the JD(U) leader.

In response to the backlash, Singh held a press conference in Patna, clarifying that his statement had been misinterpreted. He explained that he was referring to the murders of his nine associates after forming an alliance with Nitish Kumar, not claiming to have orchestrated those killings.

This incident has sparked significant political reactions, with Manjhi calling for an inquiry and JD(U) leadership stating they are keeping an eye on the situation. Singh’s clarification comes amid ongoing internal tensions within the JD(U) related to the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
