Delhi Police Prepares for CJP Protest with High-Level Security Meeting

New Delhi, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : In anticipation of the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) protest scheduled for October 10, a high-level meeting took place at the Delhi Police headquarters. Police Commissioner discussed security arrangements and law enforcement strategies with senior officers for nearly three hours.

Sources indicate that a detailed security plan has been established, dividing New Delhi into 20 zones. This division aims to enhance security management, surveillance, and rapid response capabilities during the protest.

In light of the planned demonstration, security measures have been tightened significantly. The Delhi Police announced a temporary suspension of internet and mobile services within a four-kilometer radius of the Janpath-Kartavyapath intersection starting Friday evening.

A police official confirmed that mobile internet services would be suspended for 24 hours, with the restrictions lasting until 10 PM on Saturday.

The Delhi Police denied permission for the CJP protest, citing that the organizers failed to adhere to legal guidelines and past assurances made during previous demonstrations.

Following approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manishi Chandra instructed telecom companies to implement the 24-hour internet ban. The directive referenced the Temporary Suspension of Telecommunications Services Rules, 2024, and the Telecommunications Act, 2023.

Telecom operators were informed to enforce the internet restrictions from 10 PM Friday to 10 PM Saturday in the specified area.

This internet suspension coincides with the closure of 57 Delhi Metro stations, which will be shut down starting Friday at 9 PM.

Authorities stated that the Indian National Security Code (BNSC) Section 163 is in effect in New Delhi, prompting precautionary restrictions to maintain law and order and public safety.

DCP B. Bharat Reddy noted that 334 Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel will be deployed at key railway stations to manage the influx of protesters arriving by train. Additionally, 14 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been requested to bolster security.

Reddy emphasized that special security measures are in place at major railway stations to facilitate the movement of those traveling to the protest.

He assured that passengers whose trains are not diverted and who arrive at designated stations will not face any inconvenience.
