Delhi Police dismantles a cyber fraud network, arresting six suspects involved in a scheme using mule accounts and fake SIM cards.

New Delhi, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi Police‘s Cyber Crime unit has successfully dismantled a significant cyber fraud network, leading to the arrest of six individuals. The operation revealed the use of mule bank accounts, the issuance of fake SIM cards, and an APK-based fraud module.
Authorities uncovered a network responsible for creating approximately 70 bank accounts and fraudulently acquiring around 187 SIM cards. Some of these accounts were sold for ₹20,000 each. The investigation is linked to 125 complaints filed with the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), involving a total fraud amount of nearly ₹1.59 crore.
In the first case, registered under FIR number 39/2026, police arrested 19-year-old Devendra, also known as Sachin, on October 24. Investigators found that he and his accomplice, Mohit, lured residents of Shahbad Dairy with promises of insurance benefits, convincing them to open bank accounts. They then took possession of the banking kits and handed the accounts over to a suspicious cyber crime network operating from Hyderabad.
The duo created around 70 bank accounts, retaining about 10% of the funds as commission. Mohit has been identified but is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail for another case. This aspect of the investigation is associated with nine NCRP complaints, amounting to a fraud of approximately ₹14.51 lakh.
In a separate case, three suspects—Atul, Sameer (alias Sam), and Pankaj—were apprehended for running a fraudulent SIM card network. Police reported that telecom dealer Atul obtained additional SIM cards by using customers’ photos and documents without their consent, selling them for about ₹1,500 each. This network is linked to 114 NCRP complaints, with fraud totaling around ₹1.40 crore.
Additionally, police arrested Sumit, who sold three bank accounts to his associate Vicky Chauhan for ₹20,000. This case revealed two instances of cyber fraud involving roughly ₹4.5 lakh.
Authorities are currently searching for Chauhan and other potential accomplices. In another significant arrest, police detained Saurav from Jalandhar, Punjab, on August 18, for his involvement in an APK-based cyber fraud scheme. His mobile phone contained information on 124 bank accounts and cards, including 29 bank accounts and 85 debit/credit cards.
Saurav allegedly raised about ₹3.73 crore through cyber fraud by purchasing gold online and using gift and credit cards. Investigators are examining a bakery factory and a car reportedly purchased with these funds. He has a history of involvement in eight previous cyber crime cases.
During the operation, police confiscated eight mobile phones, eight ATM cards, seven checkbooks, two passbooks, a POS device, a pocket router, ₹10,030 in cash, and a motorcycle.
The Delhi Police reported that victims of cyber fraud have recovered ₹74.94 lakh through the MRM portal, with an additional ₹1.12 crore returned to complainants in cases under investigation.
