New Delhi, March 12: In response to rumors stemming from the Iran conflict, the Delhi government has advised citizens against panic buying of LPG, petrol, diesel, and PNG. They assured residents of sufficient stock availability.
An official statement emphasized the importance of avoiding panic buying and hoarding, urging the public to disregard baseless rumors related to disruptions in the fuel supply chain.
To combat black marketing and hoarding, enforcement teams are conducting rigorous checks. There is also close monitoring to prevent the misuse of domestic LPG cylinders in restaurants and eateries. The government is making necessary arrangements to ensure a regular supply of commercial LPG.
Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) confirmed that the domestic supply of PNG remains stable, with natural gas allocations prioritizing domestic and transport sector consumers (CNG).
Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have also reassured the public of adequate stocks of petrol, diesel, and domestic LPG, ensuring a smooth supply chain.
The government has increased the minimum booking period for LPG refills from 21 days to 25 days. Despite this change, consumers are still receiving refills within an average of two to three days from the booking date.
To streamline the process, the government encourages the use of digital platforms for bookings. For instance, if a cylinder was delivered on February 1, 2026, the next booking can be made on or after February 26, 2026. Consumers can take advantage of various booking options, including web portals, SMS, IVRS, missed call services, and WhatsApp, eliminating the need to visit gas agencies.
The Department of Food, Supply, and Consumer Affairs has deployed field officers to ensure hassle-free booking and compliance.
The government once again appealed to the public to remain assured about fuel availability and to refrain from panic buying.
