Delhi Government Increases Commercial LPG Supply Allocation to 70 Percent

New Delhi, March 27: Following directives from the central government, the Delhi government has revised its commercial LPG allocation, increasing it by an additional 20 percent on top of the previous 50 percent decision. This adjustment brings the total supply to 70 percent of the previous levels, amounting to 6,300 cylinders of 19 kg each per day, compared to a typical consumption of 9,000 cylinders.

After ensuring adequate arrangements for 5 kg cylinders for hotels, restaurants, dhabas, food processing, dairy, and laborers and students, the supply for labor-intensive industries such as steel, automobiles, textiles (including dry cleaning), chemicals, plastics, sports facilities, glass, and pharma units has been raised to 1,800 cylinders. Priority has been given to industries where PNG alternatives are not available.

The revised allocation is distributed across various sectors as follows: hotels, restaurants, dhabas, food processing, and dairy (3,375 cylinders); industries (1,800); essential services such as education, health, railways, airports, and bus services (225); caterers/banquets (225); government institutions, trusts, PSUs, and community kitchens (225); sports facilities/stadiums (270); and 5 kg cylinders for migrant workers (180).

Food and Supply Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated, “Industries and food-related businesses in Delhi can now operate without any interruptions. Reaching a 70 percent supply level is a result of better coordination between the central and state governments.”

Continuous monitoring has indicated that there is no hoarding or panic buying occurring. According to data from oil marketing companies, bookings are proceeding normally.

This decision follows the earlier increase of 50 percent in supply, which ensured full provision for essential services and implemented a priority booking system. He added, “The Delhi government is committed to fair distribution. Consumers are urged to book in a timely manner and apply for PNG where possible.”

He concluded, “We thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his guidance and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for her leadership, under which the situation is fully under control. Rumors regarding LPG availability are completely unfounded.”
