Delhi BJP President Malhotra Criticizes Kejriwal Over Yamuna Pollution During Cleanup Drive

Delhi BJP chief Harsh Malhotra participates in a cleanup drive, criticizing Kejriwals government for failing to address Yamuna pollution.

New Delhi, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : Harsh Malhotra, the president of the Delhi BJP, participated in a cleanup drive along the banks of the Yamuna River on Sunday. He criticized the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for lacking a solid plan to address the river’s pollution during its tenure.

Malhotra stated that the current BJP government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has formulated a plan to clean a 33-kilometer stretch of the Yamuna that flows through the national capital.

“Since the BJP came to power in Delhi, our government has devised a plan to clean the 33 kilometers of the Yamuna River,” he said. He accused the previous government, led by Kejriwal, of playing politics with the issue and misleading the public with false promises of cleaning the river.

Pointing out the failure of the previous administration to fulfill its commitments, Malhotra noted that residents were assured the river would be cleaned. However, after five years, no tangible results were achieved. “People were misled, and when the river remained dirty after five years, they apologized and promised to clean it in the next five years. But when that time came, they repeated the same actions, as they never had a real plan,” he remarked.

Malhotra also questioned the use of funds allocated by the central government for the river’s cleanup. He alleged that the Kejriwal government received approximately ₹2,900 crores from the Modi-led central government, yet there was no effective action plan associated with those funds.

The cleanup drive aimed to raise awareness about the urgent need to address pollution in the Yamuna River, a critical issue for the city’s environment.
