Delhi Assembly Passes Historic Green Budget Amid Opposition Boycott

New Delhi, March 27: The BJP-led government in the capital has successfully passed the budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 during a four-day session in the Delhi Assembly. Minister Pravesh Verma expressed that the session was highly successful, but criticized the opposition for their absence, calling it shameful.

In a media interaction, Minister Verma stated that all agendas set by the government were accomplished. He highlighted that there was significant discussion on all reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), bills, and especially the budget. He lamented that the opposition prioritized their political agendas over participating in the budget session, which he deemed unacceptable.

Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced with great pleasure that a historic ‘Green Budget’ has been passed in the Delhi Assembly. He noted that this budget reflects the achievements of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s six-year tenure. The budget particularly addresses environmental concerns, as emphasized by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh remarked that the budget presented by Chief Minister Gupta should benefit the people of Delhi. He asserted that it is their right to receive such benefits, and the government is committed to delivering on this promise.

BJP MLA Karnail Singh commented on the extensive discussions surrounding the budget, pointing out that the opposition’s absence indicated their evasion of responsibilities.

MLA Satish Upadhyay praised the budget as excellent, reiterating that it is a ‘Green Budget’ that fulfills the aspirations of the people of Delhi. He confirmed that the budget has been officially passed.

MLA Kailash Gehlot noted that there was substantial discussion on the budget, with all legislators and ministers engaging in dialogue about the allocation for various departments, including new initiatives like bicycles for daughters.
