New Delhi, August 13: The historic Delhi Assembly will open its doors to the public on August 14 and 15, allowing citizens to experience its rich heritage. This initiative coincides with the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
The assembly complex will be illuminated in the evenings and will welcome visitors from 5 PM to 8 PM on both days, with no prior registration required.
This event will blend history, culture, and public participation. Officials announced that the Border Security Force (BSF) band and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will perform patriotic music.
Cultural programs presented by the Sahitya Kala Parishad will showcase India’s artistic traditions.
Notable attendees will include Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, Vice Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, assembly members, and other distinguished guests.
Welcoming citizens, Speaker Vijender Gupta emphasized that Independence Day is not only a time to remember the sacrifices made for India’s freedom but also an opportunity for citizens to deepen their connection with the democratic institutions that uphold the republic.
He stated that opening the assembly to the public reflects the principle that democratic institutions ultimately belong to the citizens they serve.
Visitors will have the chance to tour the historic assembly building and significant heritage sites, gaining insight into the institution’s role in Delhi’s legislative and democratic history.
