Yogi Government to Establish Vande Mataram Vatika in All Districts on Independence Day

Lucknow, August 13: Under the guidance of the Yogi government, the Forest Department is establishing unique forests across the state. Recently, several such forests have been set up. On August 15, which marks Independence Day, ‘Vande Mataram Vatika’ will be inaugurated in all 75 districts. This initiative aims to promote environmental conservation and instill a sense of patriotism. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the national song, the campaign ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ will see the planting of 150 saplings in each district. Community participation will play a key role in this effort.

As part of the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ campaign, the ‘Vande Mataram Vatika’ will be established in every district on August 15. The Forest Department has already begun preparations for this initiative. In each district, 150 saplings will be planted at a designated location, serving as a tribute to nature on the occasion of the national song’s 150th anniversary. The Forest Department will develop the ‘Vande Mataram Vatika’ in each district, planting shade-giving, fruit-bearing, and environmentally beneficial species according to local conditions. The responsibility for caring for these plants will be assigned locally, ensuring the campaign becomes a lasting green legacy.

Sitanshu Pandey, the Divisional Forest Officer of Awadh Forest Division, stated that the ‘Vande Mataram Vatika’ will be expanded at the Kukrail picnic spot on Independence Day. An Ashoka Chakra has been created here, with Ashoka saplings planted around its 24 spokes. Fencing will be installed for the protection of these plants. The planting will involve representatives from various sectors of society, including retired and current Indian Forest Service officers.

Deepak Kumar, the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Social Forestry), emphasized that the ‘Vande Mataram Vatika’ is a crucial part of the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ campaign. This special initiative will ensure widespread participation from the general public. The planting program will include local representatives, students from schools, colleges, and universities, NGOs, social organizations, the Vande Mataram Foundation/Trust, families of freedom fighters, NCC/NSS members, youth/women’s groups, and current and former Indian Forest Service officers, along with various government departments. The saplings planted on Independence Day will convey a message of patriotism, nature conservation, and community involvement to future generations.
