Following an audit ordered by Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu, the DDA has completed assessments of 736 parks. As a result, they are strengthening the CCTV network in 323 parks and increasing lighting in 520 parks, particularly in dimly lit areas.

An official reported that the parks were categorized based on risk levels: high risk (190 parks), medium risk (258 parks), and low risk (288 parks). Notably, work has already been completed in 106 parks based on the findings of the recent audit.

The audit revealed that 16 parks already had CCTV systems in place, and an additional 323 parks have been earmarked for installation. Furthermore, the DDA has installed safety information boards in 115 parks, with efforts ongoing to place 484 more.

Among the 399 identified parks, issues related to park boundaries have been resolved in 233, and repairs to broken fences have been completed. Sensitive areas around restrooms and abandoned structures have also been identified for corrective action.

Additionally, night patrols have commenced in 245 major parks, and requests for security personnel have been sent for 134 parks classified as high risk.

On September 28, a special meeting was convened with all security agencies to discuss these issues, led by a special duty officer. The DDA has activated a biometric attendance system for security guards in 602 parks, with plans to implement it in the remaining parks.

To improve incident reporting and coordination, contact details for local police and beat officers have been shared with field staff. The DDA has also initiated organized dialogues with local resident welfare associations to identify security concerns and determine corrective actions.
