Cricket Stars Who Played T20 World Cups for Two Nations

New Delhi, February 5: Playing in the World Cup is a dream for every cricketer. However, a select few have had the unique opportunity to represent two different countries in T20 World Cups. Here’s a look at these remarkable players.

Shehan Jayasuriya: This all-rounder played for Sri Lanka in the 2016 T20 World Cup. He has since earned a spot on the U.S. team for the 2026 T20 World Cup. So far, Shehan has participated in 12 ODIs and 18 T20 matches, with one half-century to his name in ODIs.

Rilof van der Merwe: The 41-year-old began his international career with South Africa. He played in the T20 World Cups of 2009 and 2010 for South Africa. Later, he represented the Netherlands in the T20 World Cups of 2016, 2021, and 2022. Van der Merwe is set to represent the Dutch team once again in the 2026 World Cup.

Mark Chapman: This left-handed batsman represented Hong Kong in the 2014 and 2016 World Cups. He then played for New Zealand in the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. Currently, he is a reliable middle-order batsman for the Kiwi team and will have another chance to play in the T20 World Cup.

Dirk Nannes: Nannes played for Australia in the 2009 T20 World Cup before joining the Netherlands team. He was part of the Dutch squad in the 2010 T20 World Cup.

David Wiese: The fast bowler played in the 2016 T20 World Cup for South Africa. He later joined Namibia and has played in the T20 World Cups of 2021, 2022, and 2024 for them.

Corey Anderson: This batting all-rounder played for New Zealand in the 2016 T20 World Cup. He then decided to settle in the U.S. and will represent the USA in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
