Court Hearing Scheduled for Defamation Case Against Aditya Thackeray and Others
A court in Mumbai will hear a defamation case against Aditya Thackeray and others on October 21, 2026, concerning allegations made by Satish Salian.

Mumbai, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : A significant development has emerged in the defamation case filed by Satish Salian, father of the late Disha Salian, against Aditya Thackeray, former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, MP Sanjay Raut, and others. The case, valued at ₹2,000 crores, is set to be heard on October 21, 2026, after the court addressed procedural objections.
The Thane civil court has scheduled the preliminary hearing, with notices and copies of the complaint already provided to the defendants. Salian’s lawyers, Ishwarlal Agarwal and Tanveer Nizam, will argue for interim relief against the accused.
The plaintiffs are seeking several key remedies, including the immediate removal of allegedly defamatory content from social media and digital platforms. They also demand a public apology from the defendants for statements that purportedly harmed their reputation. Additionally, the plaintiffs are requesting that the defendants submit a bank guarantee to secure the ₹2,000 crore claim and that the court consider seizing the defendants’ assets or imposing civil imprisonment if necessary.
The plaintiffs allege that the defendants have made derogatory and misleading statements aimed at damaging their social standing while they seek justice for Disha Salian’s death. They assert that the defendants have disregarded the facts related to the judicial proceedings and investigations, framing Salian’s legal battle as a political conspiracy and questioning his credibility.
Agarwal and Nizam will contend in court that the right to free speech does not grant individuals unlimited authority to harm another’s honor and reputation. The plaintiffs will seek an effective interim order to halt these alleged defamatory activities immediately. The upcoming hearing is deemed crucial as the plaintiffs present their case for the removal of harmful content, public apologies, and other interim relief measures.
