Couple Shot Dead in Alleged Honor Killing in Sindh, Pakistan
A couple was shot dead in Sukkur, Sindh, in an alleged honor killing after marrying for love. Police have arrested two suspects.

Sukkur, October 23 (Daily Kiran) : In a tragic incident in Sukkur, Sindh, a couple was shot dead in what is being described as an honor killing. The victims, identified as Sidra Samejo and Didar Sheikh, were traveling to Karachi when they were attacked inside a passenger coach on the National Highway. Local reports indicate that unknown assailants opened fire on them near the Vig Gate before fleeing the scene.
Authorities responded to the incident, and the Baiji Sharif police quickly apprehended two suspects, Abdul Malik Samejo and Abdul Hanan Samejo, recovering a repeater shotgun from their possession. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to a nearby hospital for postmortem examinations, as the police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murders.
According to a statement made by Sidra on September 28, 2026, she had previously been married to a man named Abdul Hanan, who she claimed had abused her. After being divorced in 2024, Sidra faced pressure from her relatives to marry against her will. She later married Didar Ali in April 2026, expressing fears for her life from her ex-husband and other family members.
This incident is not isolated. A similar case occurred recently in Karachi, where an 18-year-old newlywed was allegedly killed by her brother for marrying against her family’s wishes. The victim, Zarka Bibi, had been living with her husband for three weeks before her family lured her back home under the pretense of conducting a formal marriage ceremony. Upon her return, her brother reportedly murdered her and has since gone into hiding.
The ongoing violence against individuals who marry for love highlights the severe societal pressures and dangers faced by couples in Pakistan.
