New Delhi, February 25: A controversy has emerged following a shirtless protest by Congress Youth workers at the AI Impact Summit held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. A Congress leader defended the protest on Wednesday, stating it was a necessary action.

In response, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sharply criticized the Congress leader’s remarks, labeling them as disrespectful.

Congress leader Barinder Singh Dhillon called for intensified protests against the actions taken against Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers. He claimed the government is attempting to silence their voices.

Dhillon urged party members not to fear arrests and to be prepared for imprisonment, but to stand firm against government pressure.

The BJP condemned his statement, arguing that such demonstrations at international events like the AI Summit tarnish the country’s image.

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari targeted Congress, stating that while the party mourns the arrests of its leaders, its members simultaneously make provocative statements.

BJP leader Shehzad Poonawala also criticized the Congress leader’s comments, accusing them of mocking the Prime Minister’s OBC background and making derogatory remarks about his family members.
