Lucknow, April 9: An FIR has been filed against Samajwadi Party leader IP Singh for calling Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath a ‘dacoit.’ The complainant alleges that Singh’s actions tarnish the government’s image and disrupt communal harmony.
IP Singh shared an AI-generated video on the social media platform ‘X,’ depicting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath dancing and referring to him as ‘Rahman Dacoit.’ In his post, Singh commented, “A dacoit who has devoured the reservations of the PDA class in nine years.”
Following this, a person named Dharm Singh lodged a complaint at the Hazratganj police station in Lucknow. The police have registered a case against Singh under various sections of the IT Act and BNS.
In his complaint, Dharm Singh stated, “Baseless facts are being circulated with an edited photo of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This act is deliberately aimed at tarnishing the government’s image and inciting animosity against different caste groups, thereby disturbing communal harmony and public peace. Such objectionable videos have hurt my feelings and those of millions in Uttar Pradesh, creating a strong possibility of unrest, hatred, and hostility among people.”
He demanded that an FIR be registered and strict action taken against the offenders.
This incident comes at a time when posters labeling Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav as ‘Rahman Dacoit’ were put up in Lucknow, with Chief Minister Yogi being referred to as ‘Dhurandhar.’ In response, agitated Samajwadi Party workers later tore down those posters.
