Chandigarh, February 25: Haryana Minister Gaurav Gautam criticized the Congress Party, stating that their protests should remain within acceptable boundaries.
Gautam’s remarks came in response to a recent incident during the AI Summit, where Youth Congress activists staged a shirtless protest. This led to the arrest of Uday Bhanu Chhib, the national president of the Indian Youth Congress, by Delhi police. The Congress has been vocally attacking the BJP over this issue. On Wednesday, the Haryana Congress announced plans to surround the assembly.
In Chandigarh, Gautam remarked that Congress has consistently opposed positive developments in India and its states. He described their protests as increasingly chaotic. He emphasized that protests should focus on public issues rather than self-serving politics or seeking media attention.
He condemned the disgraceful display by Congress leaders at the AI Summit in Delhi, calling it a shameful act that tarnished India’s image. He suggested that similar tactics are employed by Congress in the state, as they follow a script dictated from above.
Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala accused the BJP government of collaborating with Chandigarh police to suppress Congress protests. He claimed that their leaders and supporters were placed under house arrest in various districts and that the police issued absurd notices to prevent their president and colleagues from mobilizing. Surjewala labeled the BJP’s actions as cowardly and tyrannical, asserting that the government’s bullying would not go unpunished. He affirmed that Congress members would neither stop nor bow down.
