Murshidabad, May 9: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has called on the central government to clarify its stance on ‘Operation Sindoor.’ He stated that numerous questions have arisen regarding this operation, and the government should issue an official statement to provide clarity.
Speaking to the media about Operation Sindoor, Chowdhury emphasized the need for a clear explanation from the government regarding the actual events that transpired. “How can I say what really happened from the outside? However, when former U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned that several of our aircraft were damaged and destroyed at the airport, our government failed to provide a clear response and instead offered vague statements,” he remarked.
Chowdhury expressed unwavering confidence in the bravery of the Indian armed forces, recalling that India has defeated Pakistan multiple times in history. He referenced significant moments during the tenures of leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, where India responded strongly against Pakistan.
He noted past achievements and acknowledged shortcomings. The 1971 war, which led to the independence of Bangladesh from Pakistan, is considered one of India’s significant victories.
“This time, we have certainly taken action against terrorist hideouts. However, incidents of infiltration continue to occur. Therefore, operations like Operation Sindoor are ongoing, and the challenge of cross-border infiltration remains. This necessitates increased vigilance on our part. We must identify and address the shortcomings from previous wars and operations,” he advised.
Chowdhury also warned that China and Pakistan have previously collaborated against India and may continue to do so in the future.
Earlier, Chowdhury asserted that, in accordance with the country’s democratic traditions, the Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) should be given the opportunity to prove its majority. He criticized the governor for inquiring about the number of seats before extending an invitation, stating that it is inappropriate for the governor’s position. The party with the most seats, in this case, should be invited first to demonstrate its majority. If they fail, that is a separate issue, but they should have the first opportunity, as per our democratic tradition, which he believes the governor should uphold.
