Guwahati, June 10: On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 12 years in office, the Congress party has voiced strong criticism. Gaurav Gogoi, president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee and Lok Sabha member, questioned the government’s approach, stating that the BJP prioritizes consolidating its power over serving the public.
Gogoi emphasized that the primary goal of any government should be the welfare of the people, job creation, and the formulation of development policies. He accused the BJP of focusing on undermining opposition parties rather than addressing issues that affect the public.
He stated, “After forming a government, ministers should be assigned responsibilities, tasked with work, create job opportunities, develop new policies, and determine the direction of development through the budget. However, the BJP seems more engaged in weakening the opposition and democratic institutions.”
Gogoi further alleged that the BJP aims to undermine the spirit of democracy, expressing that the party is more concerned about its own power than governance. He pointed out that citizens are seeking answers to pressing questions, such as when fuel prices will decrease. The youth’s primary concern is employment; he questioned whether they would have to seek jobs abroad due to a lack of opportunities in the country.
He also raised concerns about the education system, noting that students are worried about not securing seats in Indian colleges and universities.
Addressing the economic situation, Gogoi mentioned that traders are closely monitoring the declining value of the rupee, pondering how much weaker it might become. Investors are also deliberating whether to invest in India or other countries. Wealthy individuals are considering settling abroad for various reasons.
