Congress Criticizes AAP After Three Punjab MLAs Join BJP

Congress leaders criticize AAP following the resignation of three Punjab MLAs, suggesting further defections are likely.

New Delhi, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : The Congress party launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after three of its legislators from Punjab resigned and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday. Senior Congress leaders Pramod Tiwari and Udit Raj accused AAP of facing an internal crisis and predicted that more members might follow suit.

In a conversation about the resignations of Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, and Chetan Singh Jauramajra, Pramod Tiwari remarked, “There is an old saying that when a ship begins to sink, its passengers jump off to save themselves first. Is politics becoming a joke? How can a chief minister, who is often intoxicated, claim to liberate others from addiction? People are discussing how he remains inebriated.”

Tiwari further asserted that AAP has deceived the public and betrayed their trust. Udit Raj echoed these sentiments, stating that the resignations indicate that more leaders may soon leave the party. He questioned what the MLAs had been doing in AAP until now and suggested that the party’s internal chaos was inevitable.

Raj claimed that previously, when some MPs exited the party, around 40 to 45 MLAs were also ready to leave. He criticized the governance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, stating that he plays no significant role and that the Delhi leadership is effectively running the Punjab government.

As political tensions rise in Punjab, AAP is preparing to take action against the recently resigned MLAs, aiming to disqualify them from the assembly. This turmoil follows AAP’s announcement of its first list of 40 candidates for the upcoming 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.

The party, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, may approach Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to request the termination of the two MLAs’ memberships.
