Comedians Harsh Gujral and Madhur Virali Summoned by Maharashtra Cyber for Obscene Remarks

Comedians Harsh Gujral and Madhur Virali face questioning by Maharashtra Cyber over allegations of obscenity in their comedy acts.

Mumbai, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : Comedians Harsh Gujral and Madhur Virali have been summoned by Maharashtra Cyber for allegedly using obscene and offensive language in their performances. The two are required to appear for questioning on October 19.

The investigation was initiated following a complaint from a woman, prompting authorities to delve deeper into the matter. This scrutiny comes amid a backdrop of previous controversies surrounding inappropriate comments made during comedy shows.

In the past, comedian Samay Raina faced backlash over his show “India’s Got Latent,” where remarks made by contestants and guests sparked heated debates on social media. The discussions raised questions about the boundaries of language and comedy in entertainment.

Similarly, comedian Praneet More was embroiled in controversy over a video titled “370 Rupee Biryani,” where comments made about women led to public outcry. His laughter during the segment also drew criticism, ultimately resulting in an apology from him.

Harsh Gujral is recognized as one of India’s prominent stand-up comedians, hailing from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He has performed in various countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand. Gujral also appeared in the film “Mere Husband Ki Biwi” and participated in Rohit Shetty’s reality show “Khatron Ke Khiladi 15.”

Madhur Virali, based in Delhi, gained fame with his show “IIT Dream.” After graduating from IIT Delhi, he worked in traditional careers before making a name for himself in stand-up comedy, particularly after winning the stand-up category at the Inter-IIT Cultural Meet in 2018.

The Maharashtra Cyber investigation will examine the roles of both comedians and the allegations outlined in the complaint.
