
Samastipur, January 29: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Samastipur on Thursday as part of his Samriddhi Yatra, unveiling 188 new development projects in the district. During the visit, he reviewed the progress of various schemes and inaugurated multiple initiatives aimed at boosting local infrastructure and social welfare.
At the Government Engineering College campus in Samastipur, CM Nitish Kumar remotely laid the foundation for 71 projects worth ₹470 crore, inaugurated 74 projects valued at ₹273 crore, and launched 43 projects costing ₹84 crore. He also inspected the college premises and interacted with students and teachers, encouraging them to embrace modern technology and knowledge for their future growth.
The Chief Minister then visited the language laboratory, where teachers explained the teaching of several international languages to students. He also toured local startup and innovation stalls, along with displays from various government departments at the campus.
During his inspection, CM Nitish Kumar appreciated products made by JEEVIKA self-help group members, praising their hard work and assuring continued government support. As part of this, he handed over a symbolic cheque of ₹437 crore to 23,472 JEEVIKA sisters associated with self-help groups.
The Chief Minister also interacted with beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Vridha Pension Scheme present at the event. He visited the stall set up by the Borlaug Institute for South Asia in Samastipur to learn about new agricultural technologies and products. He reviewed the multiple crop farming model being implemented by the Agriculture Department and instructed officials to facilitate marketing of products made by local small entrepreneurs, boosting both local products and markets.
Further, CM Nitish Kumar inspected ongoing development works including the RCC bridge and bypass road under construction in Hakimabad block. He sought updates on other progress reports and directed officials to expedite project completion. The programme was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, senior officials, representatives, and dignitaries.
