Mumbai, March 24: A clash occurred on Tuesday in Lebda Jamua, located at the border of Barkattha and Gorhar police stations in Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand. This incident took place during the Mangla procession held ahead of Ram Navami. Tensions escalated when the police intervened to stop the procession from deviating from its licensed route. In response, an agitated crowd began throwing stones at the police, resulting in injuries to several individuals, including four police officers.
As the situation deteriorated, SDM Johan Tudu and SDPO Ajit Kumar Vimal arrived at the scene with a heavy police presence. The police managed to disperse the crowd and restore order. Authorities clarified that the incident was not a conflict between two communities, but rather between the procession participants and the police.
Reports indicate that the Mangla procession was making its way back from Tuiyo village, passing through Kapka, Budhiyadih, and Buchai, when police halted it due to concerns over sensitivity and the lack of a proper route license. This action sparked outrage among the men and women involved in the procession, leading to the outbreak of violence.
As tensions rose, the crowd began to throw stones, resulting in multiple injuries. Following the incident, police confiscated six motorcycles from the area. SDM Johan Tudu stated that the procession lacked a valid license for the route and was being forcibly conducted. He also dismissed rumors circulating on social media that suggested the clash was a dispute between two communities.
The SDM assured that the situation is fully under control and urged people not to pay attention to any rumors. Meanwhile, SDPO Ajit Kumar Vimal emphasized that strict action would be taken against those who take the law into their own hands, and the process of filing a First Information Report (FIR) has already begun. For now, a heavy police force remains deployed at the site, and the situation is reported to be stable.
