Chirag Paswan Defends Voter List Changes, Criticizes Oppositions Claims
Chirag Paswan supports voter list removals, calling out the opposition for misleading claims about illegal names being cut.

Patna, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Central Minister Chirag Paswan has justified the removal of names from the voter list under the Systematic Identification of Residents (SIR). Speaking at a rally in Ram Leela Maidan, he targeted the opposition, asserting that if millions of incorrect names had been cut, there would be public outcry. He emphasized that the opposition is compromising integrity for power while Prime Minister Modi focuses on building a developed India.
Paswan stated, “The names being removed under SIR are those that have been misusing our national resources illegally for a long time. I repeatedly ask those claiming wrongful removals, what are your Block Level Agents (BLAs) doing? They are present, right? Your booth-level agents are responsible for cross-checking these details.”
He acknowledged that mistakes can occur, and if a name is wrongly removed, there is a process to reinstate it. However, he criticized the opposition’s uproar, noting that despite claims of gathering 10 lakh people, they failed to mobilize 140,000 individuals in a nation of 1.4 billion.
Paswan argued that if such a large number of names were indeed cut incorrectly, the affected individuals would have taken to the streets in protest. He reiterated that the names removed were legitimate, pointing out issues like duplicate registrations and deceased individuals still on the list. He stressed that these names often belong to infiltrators without any legal basis to reside in the country, contributing to social unrest.
He accused the opposition, particularly the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, of being so consumed by their lust for power that they are willing to undermine norms and traditions vital for governance. “Focus on issues that matter to the public, like roads, electricity, and health. Why raise the SIR issue? It’s because you fear losing seats,” he said.
Paswan also addressed the recent integration of two Members of Legislative Council (MLCs) into the BJP, stating that the matter is personal and depends on individual choice. He noted the importance of legal and ethical considerations when it comes to political alliances.
Regarding the cancellation of Anant Singh’s membership from Janata Dal (United), he described it as an internal party issue, suggesting that the law will take its course based on Singh’s actions during the elections.
On the BJP’s campaign against chaos, Paswan mentioned that representatives across various cities, including Uttar Pradesh, are participating. He condemned the opposition’s attempts to plunge India into disorder, likening their tactics to those seen in countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan, where institutions are misused for political change. He asserted that such tactics will not succeed in India.
